Abstract:
Foreign language anxiety, as a complex psychological construct, and its potential for significant interference with language learning and production have been recognized by many foreign language educators. The purpose of this study was to investigate the foreign language anxiety in Chinese college classroom by testing the reliability of Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS), gender differences and the relationship of students?nbsp;anxiety levels to their performance in their English classroom. Participants were eighty-one students learning English in 免费论文网 【http://www.51lunwen.net】their first year in college. Participants were given the FLCAS, and their final scores were collected. SPSS II was used to analyze the data, and eight different factors were found related to the anxiety levels. The study also found the test anxiety was not an important component of foreign language anxiety.
