Introduction
1.1 Overview of Simens
As a well-known multinational company, Simens now have 400 thousand employees,
the main products of which are high-tech products such as electrical appliance
and other electronic products. Up to now, Simens has gone through 150
years of development history. According to statistics, the life span of
European enterprises is usually between 20-40 years. Quite a number of
competitors have been founded and gone bankruptcy in the international
stage of industrial and commercial enterprises in such a long period of
history. The reason why Simens has survived in the intense competition
and stayed successful, powerful and vigorous is illuminating and quite
worth thinking for others.
Currently, Simens has established its offices and branches in more than
190 countries and cities. The strategy of economic globalization has already
been partly achieved in Simens. More than 400 producing bases have been
founded in more than 50 countries, and only in China, there are approximately
39 joint ventures and exclusive investment firm. Investment volume of
the 39 firms has reached 700 million Deutsche Marks, which is approximately
390 million US dollars. It is anticipated that in 2000 the volume will
be increased to 1 billion US dollars. Also Simens has more than 1 thousand
investment companies, and the business scope has been expanded to 15 industries,
such as energy, transportation, information, medical care, home appliance
and so on. In 1996, total volume of orders has risen up to 100 billion
Deutsche Marks.
